In this guide, I will be showing you how you can change your IP address in windows 7 and Vista
In order to follow this tutorial, you will need the following
Changing your IP
To change your IP Address on Windows 7, you should either see one of the two icons on your desktop.
If you left click that you should see something similar to the window below:
Once you see that, click the link saying ‘Open Network and Sharing Center’ to open it. After that, another window should appear to the similar to the image below:
Make sure to then open the ‘Changer adapter Settings’ link.
If you double click the adapter of which you would like to change the IP Address of to bring up your Adapters Network Status.
Click Properties and scroll down to ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ and double click it to edit your IP Address
If you can just fill out the IP Address details which you would like to use. The IP Address should follow the correct format as the address of your router. You can find this if you open up the start menu and type in cmd.
When you open this type in ipconfig and find the adapter name which you wanted to change the settings for and scroll down to Default Gateway.
The subnet mask should be ’255.255.255.0′, the default gateway should be the same as before and the DNS Server should be either the default gateway or another address such as googles dns which is ’188.8.131.52′
If you have decided you would like to add more IP Addresses then you can click the Advanced button and go to ‘add’ to add more:
Once you have done all of this, you can then click okay on each window until each windows has closed. You should have now successfully change your IP Address on Windows 7.
